Sporting Awards

The annual Betambeau Awards for Sporting Achievement took place at the Bridport Leisure Centre last week and some of our students did particularly well. The award commemorates the life of Ronald Betambeau, a local sportsperson who swam and played water polo between the two piers of the old harbour at West Bay. Nominations are invited from beaminster, Woodroffe and Colfox but since the award started five years ago we have always been the more successful.

Nominees from our school included David Mclaren, Hannh Foote, Zoe Roberts and Alistair Tuck. Alistair and Zoe took first prize of £150, a trophy and the privilege of having their name scribed on the board in the entrance of the BLC. A note also for Honor Slade in year 7 who also won first prize for her achievements at Thorners School last year.
