Regional Final of Team Maths Challenge
MATHS CHALLENGE 1.jpgThis is the 7th time that UKMT (United Kingdom Mathematics Trust) has run this Team Competition - This year's event was very enthusiastically received by all 21 schools who participated in the competition.  The competition combines mathematical, communication and teamwork skills and offers pupils another way to express and develop their enjoyment of Mathematics. It is open to year 8 and 9 mathematicians from all schools in the area.

The Sir John Colfox entered a team of two year 8 and two year 9 pupils - Leah Crabtree, Katherine Crabb, Stefan Mathews and Tom Wilson.  We were one of only four teams who had not entered the competition before.  Our final position was 14th which we were genuinely pleased with.  Millfield School came 1st, followed by Sexey's School in 2nd and Castle School came 3rd.

Maths Teacher Helen Harding, who accompanied the team, was impressed with the way the students performed.  "This was a new challenge for all the team to show off their skills in Mathematics.  The students worked excellently together, to share their knowledge making it a valuable experience for everyone involved."
