To help remove barriers to learning, The Sir John Colfox Academy Sixth Form will use funding received through the 16 to 19 Tuition Fund to provide small group tuition to Sixth Form students who have not achieved a grade 4 in either GCSE English and / or Maths. Within this cohort of students, particular attention will be given to any special educational needs or disabilities, as well as to those students who may be identified as disadvantaged through eligibility to the 16 to 19 bursary fund.

Small group tuition will be provided by existing academy staff, who are subject specialists, and will be delivered in addition to students’ standard programmes of study. In line with evidence, tuition will be delivered to groups of up to five students and focus upon individual areas of need. Print resources will be made available where applicable or necessary.

The impact of the additional funding and small group tuition will be analysed against student outcomes in the summer 2022 exams series.
