Art Students in the “Spotlight”

Dedicated and committed GCSE Art students from Year 10, 11 and 12 participated on Friday the 1st of December in an exciting workshop entitled "Liberating Art". This was a project launched last year and we had Clive Stafford Smith, a British attorney who specialises in the area of civil rights come in to talk to our students about 'censorship in art'. Students were provided with powerful descriptions of art work that has been generated by prisoners in Guantanamo Bay and given the brief of re-creating these works.

Our students worked with real energy and true commitment on Friday and generated some super work in response to these starting points. We also had a reporter and cameraman visit from the BBC who interviewed students talking about their work and filmed them working. The footage is scheduled to be shown on 'Spotlight ....
