Around 50 students from different year groups worked together in their houses to complete large artwork banners inspired by the theme ‘Our Place in the World’.

After a closely fought and enjoyable competition, where wonderful mixed media work was created, Adler House won the Cup – congratulations to their team!

Louise Burgess, Head of Art at the Sir John Colfox Academy, said: “A massive well done to everyone who took part, the banners produced were fantastic.

“Students used a wide-range of materials and techniques to create large-scale pieces. They took inspiration from artists like Grayson Perry, Tracey Emin, Basquiat and Tilleke Schwarz to produce some stunning pieces.”

The competition was very close and was judged on teamwork, communication, creativity, concept, skilful use of materials, originality and visual impact. It was won by Adler House, Hinomaru House were second, Fleur de Lys House third and Toro House fourth.

The Art Cup, which was held last week (9/2) is just one of many inter-house competitions that take place throughout the year.
