Full Time Science Teacher - Closing Date: Thursday 7 October 2021

Required for January 2022, an enthusiastic, well-qualified and successful classroom practitioner to teach Science at KS3, KS4 and KS5. The successful candidate will need to be able to deliver their specialism up to A Level, ideally they will be a Physics or Chemistry specialists, but Biology specialists are also welcome to apply. We are looking for a colleague who has a real passion for their subject, who is reflective and able to enthuse, motivate and challenge their students. The ideal candidate upholds high standards in their teaching and professional development and has high expectations for student learning.

We are an outwardly facing school in a beautiful part of the country and this is a great time to join our school as we have recently established a multi-academy trust with three of our feeder primary schools (The Minerva Learning Trust). There will be opportunities to work closely with these schools as part of the science department, for example we offer Year 5 challenge days, which are always oversubscribed and organise the Minerva Learning Trust Science Fair to encourage and engage younger students.

The science department encourages STEM initiatives and our teams have reached National Levels in both the Land rover 4x4 Challenge and Flying Start Challenge. We also run in school Science competitions, Key Stage 3 Science club, Eco-groups and Wilderness Warriors.

The successful candidate will be joining a department of 7 science specialist teachers. Science is a popular subject in the school and we offer AQA Separate Sciences and AQA Combined Science Trilogy options at GCSE. Our Key Stage 3 & 4 Schemes of work are based on AQA’s five year curriculum and we are well resourced, with access to Kerboodle for all our students as well as text books available at both Key Stage 3 and 4 for class work.

At A level we teach the OCR-A Specifications in Chemistry, Biology and Physics. These are all very popular courses and our students make excellent progress during their studies in the Joint Sixth Form.

Our department supports PGCE and Schools direct trainees through our work with the Jurassic Coast Alliance and we have several staff involved in training our students.

Full Time Second in Science Faculty Teacher – TLR 2.2 - Closing Date: Thursday 7 October 2021

Required for January 2022, a well-qualified and successful classroom practitioner to join the department as a Second in Science with responsibility for Key Stage 3 Science Studies. This is a new post to boost our already successful team.

The successful candidate will need to be able to deliver their specialism up to A Level, whether that is as a Physics, Chemistry or Biology specialist. We are looking for a colleague who has a real passion for their subject, who is reflective and able to enthuse, motivate and challenge their students. They should also be able to manage and appraise science staff and take on responsibility for the Scheme of Learning and Assessment at Key Stage 3.

JOB DESCRIPTION

SEN TEACHING ASSISTANT - Closing Date: Thursday 7 October 2021

30 hours per week (term time only plus 2 non student days)

Permanent Post Grade 5 (SCP4-6) £9.81-£10.21 per hour

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join our successful and vibrant SEND department. The department is committed to supporting a wide range of needs to enable students to achieve and be successful at school.

The successful TA will work with more complex students within the SEND hub and support a wider range of needs in mainstream lessons at Key Stages 3 and 4. They will have good interpersonal skills and the confidence and ability to relate well with students. Excellent communication skills are essential for this role, as is the ability to work independently and to remain calm under pressure.

The main responsibilities for the job will include:

- Delivering prescribed interventions to students under the direction of the SENCO or Assistant SENCO.

- Supporting students’ learning within the classroom.

- Liaising with class teachers as appropriate.

- Contributing towards meeting the SEN statutory requirement for our students.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience in working with young people with SEN and a desire to see young people achieve their potential. Achievement of NVQ level 3 or equivalent for Teaching Assistants will be beneficial, as will specific training on special educational needs, for example, how to support students with dyslexia, autism etc.
