Teaching Vacancies

TEACHER OF MFL Closing date 16/03/21

Required for September 2021 an enthusiastic, well-qualified and successful classroom practitioner to join our successful and vibrant MFL department. The post could be part-time or full-time. You would be joining a team of 4 language specialists who are supported by foreign language assistants. It is a great team to join.

We are looking for a colleague who can teach Spanish and/or French up to GCSE level; A level teaching is also available. The ability to offer both French and Spanish teaching to some extent in KS3 would be an advantage. The department currently offers courses in French and Spanish at GCSE and A Level in our very successful Joint Sixth form. As a former language college, the school has retained its commitment to languages and there is an excellent take up for the subject. Even though we have now chosen to make languages non-compulsory at GCSE Spanish in particular remains a very popular option subject.

Our academy is high performing and whole-school attainment is consistently above the National Average in all of the key performance measures. Over the last three years, performance in languages has risen strongly and continues to grow from strength to strength. Since 2019, around a fifth of all our GCSE language students have achieved a Grade 7 or above. In the Sixth Form, the average individual ALPS grade has been consistently high, with ‘outstanding’ grades in many years for languages, including in 2019.

This is a great time to join our school as we look to increase our MFL offer over the next few years and increase numbers at GCSE. We work closely with three of our feeder primary schools which form part of our Multi-Academy Trust (The Minerva Learning Trust). We work closely with colleagues across the MLT, sharing ideas about assessment, literacy, numeracy and other areas of pedagogy. We are members of the Jurassic Coast Teaching Alliance, which enables us to participate in a diverse range of initiatives, including the Women in Leadership programme and CPD seminars from notable speakers. We are an outwardly facing school in a beautiful part of the country and have strong links with our local community as a newly accredited Gold Rights Respecting School. We are committed to managing staff workload and have a Staff Wellbeing and Stress Reduction Working Group.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. All staff working with children in our school are required to have a DBS check. We accept applications from all potential candidates including NQT, main scale and UPS colleagues. Should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the Head of MFL Faculty, Mr Neil Allies alliesn@colfox.dorset.sch.uk or 01308 422291. LITERACY AND READING CO-ORDINATOR

Literacy and Reading Co-ordinator – TLR 2.2

Required for September 2021, a well-qualified and successful classroom practitioner. This is a superb opportunity for a talented practitioner who wants to work in a warm and welcoming school that values its staff highly. You would be part of a well established, experienced and enthusiastic English department who have an innovative and research-led approach to teaching and learning. English is a very popular subject in our high-performing Sixth Form, and the subject area sits above or in line with every one of the new progress and attainment measures at Key Stage 4. The breadth of subjects taught within the English Faculty provides opportunities for colleagues to pursue areas of interest, and in this case, up to KS5. This is an exciting position for a well-rounded English teacher who is both driven and passionate about improving both Literacy and reading across the whole school curriculum and potentially in a cross-phase fashion.

Alongside being an excellent classroom practitioner, we are also looking for someone to lead on reading and Literacy. The school currently runs a reading programme for Year 7 and 8, to encourage and nurture a love of reading for pleasure. This post would include managing and leading the programme, whilst supporting and mentoring staff across the school. Literacy continues to be a key focus of our Multi-Academy Trust. We have a dedicated Teaching and Learning programme, which would give you an opportunity to share and champion Literacy across the curriculum.

We are looking to build on this success and are interested in teachers who have high expectations of what their students can achieve, and who believe in the power of their subject to make a difference in students’ lives. We are committed to managing workload and enabling teachers to focus on their core purpose; delivering high-quality learning opportunities for students. We offer a centralised behaviour for learning system, which reduces bureaucracy and enables teachers to focus on delivery without interruption. In March 2018 we received a full OFSTED inspection and were judged to be ‘Good’ in all areas.
