Students from other schools and home learners were among those welcomed to the Sir John Colfox Academy on Wednesday (3/6) to try different instruments, play in supportive groups and learn with specialist teachers.  

Ali Davies, Head of Music at the Sir John Colfox Academy, said: “We created lots of music and had fun, it was lovely to welcome young people from across the area to join our students for the very first Colfox Music Club. 

“We had lots of successes, three students new to the violin learnt a tune together, we had young trumpet players hitting the right notes and new guitar and ukulele players getting four chords!” 

“Thank you to all Colfox students, including Faith, Kizzy, Reuben, Reuben, Josh, Joseph, Max, Sofia and Elliott, who helped mentor and support younger students who joined us.  

“There are still some places available for more youngsters to come along and join the fun so do get in touch with me by email on daviesa@colfox.dorset.sch.uk if you are interested.” 

Colfox Music Club is open to all young people, including students from other schools and home learners, join us at the Sir John Colfox Academy, the Ridgeway, Bridport, from 3.30pm-5pm, free for June and July, small termly fee (approx £2.50 a week) in the autumn.
