We Will Rock You!
The school production is held annually in the school hall. We promote an inclusive process to the school show, with all students who audition, automatically allowed to take part in the final show. It is a fantastic opportunity for different year groups to mix with each other and get to know their peers, as well as express themselves. Each year students always comment on how they would never have got to know as many people in the school, if it was not for the school show. Wherever possible we try and go to see the show we are performing that year in London’s West End or Southampton.
The Art and Design and Technology Department make and paint the set and the textiles department creates the costumes. Other staff members take on responsibility for stage managing the show, as well as Front of House- it really is a whole school production. Of course, the Music, Performing Arts and Drama department work together to make the rehearsals a success. Rehearsals are normally twice a week on a Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-5:00. When it gets closer to show time, students and staff come into school on a Sunday for an all-day intensive rehearsal and the all-important technical rehearsal. The week of the show is a fantastic showcase of student talent, as well as comradery. It is a brilliant moment watching all the students' hard work paying off in the final performances.
