‘Inspiring Learners, Achieving Excellence’ is our aim, and I am delighted to lead a wonderful team of teaching and support staff who do their very best to bring this to life for all of our students. Whilst we are very proud of our record of excellent exam results, we believe that a first class education is about much more than that.

We aspire for all our students to have a school experience that gives them access to a wide range of extracurricular activities and cultural enrichment. Whether through sport, drama, art, music, school trips, languages, the Duke of Edinburgh scheme or on the public speaking team, we hope that everyone will take up opportunities that will add the all-important ‘extra’ to their school experience.

We believe that for our students to be successful we must recognise individual talent and provide a safe and stimulating environment, which enables them to flourish.

We want our students to be happy at the Academy, to become independent learners and to continue in education. We aim to give them opportunities to be leaders and to do things they never thought they would and to achieve things never thought they could.

The Academy is well-equipped with the latest technologies, believes in practical, hands-on approach, and uses creative methods to inspire and engage students.

At The Sir John Colfox Academy, leaning is at the heart of everything we do. Our students have the opportunity to follow a curriculum that is personalised and matches their learning needs. There are academic, piratical and vocational courses on offer to suit the needs of all our students.

In the classrooms we aim to deliver lessons that are engaging and motivating and which support and stretch learners. We have high quality learning because we have high quality teaching in disciplined and organised classrooms. Our focus is on individual students, and we provide effective support to ensure they make the appropriate progress.

Achieving

Students Achieve excellent academic results at The Sir John Colfox Academy. Standards are well above the national average at GSCE and in the sixth form.

The house system develops a sense of belonging and pride which encourages everyone to take part in Academy life, to be part of a team and strive to achieve their best. We believe success breeds success, so recognising what students can do is an important as supporting them when facing difficulties. Sixth Form students go on to study at some of the most prestigious universities in the country.

The Sir John Colfox Academy has bright and airy accommodation set within magnificent grounds, providing an outstanding environment for students. It has extensive sports facilities, a dedicated 6th form centre, an attractive dining room and a wealth of ICT resources.
