Fleur de Lys’s fundraising efforts have been appreciated by Friends of PICU at Southampton hospital. We raised £1300 and PE teacher Julia May delivered half of it to the charity this week with two of her children. Her family had received a lot of support from Friends of PICU when her son, Luke was critically ill in Southampton hospital for a year. The other half of our fundraising efforts have been given to Brain Tumour Research.
A Level Chemists Gain Top Awards
On a wet January day three of our best A Level chemists gave up 2 hours of their time to compete in the 48th International Chemistry Olympiad. This is a prestigious international competition run by the Royal Society of Chemistry, aimed to challenge even the highest achieving students. Click here to read more
Art & Photography Show
Featuring work from the combined sixth form students from Beaminster School and The Sir John Colfox Academy. The exhibition will be held at The Bridport Arts Centre and will run from Tuesday 7th June to Thursday 9th June.
Art Workshop West Bay Inclusivity Project
Art leaders in year 8 & 9 were lucky enough to work alongside visiting artist Karen Hansen to explore ideas for a new sensory installation to form part of an exciting expansion of the West Bay play area – an Arts Council funded project organised by Arthur Woodgate and Jude Allen who won the Arts Council England award to make the workshops possible. .

Minerva Learning Trust Goes Live!
Four schools in Bridport – Bridport Primary School, Burton Bradstock CE Primary School, St Mary’s CE Primary School and The Sir John Colfox Academy – have joined together to form the Minerva Learning Trust as of 1 April 2016.

The Sir John Colfox Academy were honoured to welcome Sir John Rowling, who visited because the school is a centre of excellence for the implementation of the The Edge. At the beginning of November many were amazed by a spectacular performance of Oliver! by the Sir John Colfox Academy. The play follows an adventurous young boy, Oliver (Ryan Williams), trying to survive in Victorian Britain, from the workhouse to the streets of London. To read more click here

GCSE Results improved yet again at the Sir John Colfox Academy
Students at the Sir John Colfox Academy are celebrating a successful year. Results overall in the school improved for the third year running at a time when National results are declining. Click here for the results
Superb A Level Results
The Sir John Colfox Academy are celebrating superb A level results with a 100% pass rate. Almost a third of all the grades were A* or A (31%) and over a half (52%) were A*,A or B. 79% of the grades were A*-C. To read more please click here
Sir John Colfox Becomes An Academy
The Sir John Colfox School officially became an Academy at the beginning of April. The process was more complicated as the school was the first PFI school to be built in the country and this delayed the conversion. To read more please click here
St Catherine’s Crowned Area Quad Kids Winners!
